I am pro-environment and I don’t appreciate these tactics. They have never proven to work and only exasperates the issues. It doesn’t help anyone since it is destructive in nature. I would rather see organizations be Pro environment vs. No Fracking because Fracking is inevitable. If you can get everyone to stop using fossil fuels then maybe you have a fighting chance of making No fracking a reality. But that utopian world is only shared by those on hallucinogenic drugs wearing PEACE paraphernalia. No doubt – we all would love that world to exists but this is reality we live in. Why not set up lobbying tactics to minimize or eliminate toxic chemicals in fracking fluid. Or push for only using re-cycling of water across drill sites to conserve water. Or push to for stricter standards on cement casings to go further down into the earth to prevent aquifer contamination, etc… Fracking will occur and you would have missed the boat on making a real difference in protecting the environment. In the meantime I see landowners making a difference in legislation to protect the environment the best they can because they live in a reality and that reality is that people need fossil fuel to survive so how best to get it. I own 1/2 acre so I’m not going to make anything but I want to make sure we protect the environment from the inevitable vs. making political statements that have no effect or even a negative effect on the environment because precious time is lost on these tactics. I have to side with landowners on this issue because they are actually making a difference in protecting the environment while you guys do stupid things like putting people in harms way. I would re-think your tactics because landowners are more pro-environment right now.
I drove in PA while drilling was occurring and it wasn’t pleasant but then I drove after they were done ~90 days and you couldn’t tell they were even there other than a pad with some tanks on it. Dimmock PA is crazy to me because I knew people that lived there before this drilling occurred and they complained about their water then. I read the DEC report on the water there and it was clean from fracking fluids. Methane migration was the issue at one point but that was becuase they hadn’t burned it off yet. You can drill a water well for a home in Dimmock and get methane migration. Dimmock is methane rich. Once they burned it off the problem went away. There is so much political BS on Fracking that it is a nightmare to sort thru the facts so we can make it safe. We need to get to the truth and deal with the issues and fast because fracking won’t stop, it is accelerating. So please stop the BS and deal with the facts. Point them out and present solutions on how to fix it becuase you need to realize that it won’t stop so if you truly care about the environment then come up with solutions to the real truths. Yes there are issues with fracking but we need to come up with solutions to protect our environment. Running around and chaining your head to a line isn’t going to help the environment. You are wasting precious time and the environment will end up paying for it. So right now I see you as anti-environment with a facade of pro-environment and it is pissing me right off!
