Tom West Attorneys Steven Barshov, Tom West and Helen Slottje presented on the panel “Responding to HVHF: Legal Considerations”. Moderator, Aithor and Journalist Tom Wilber. Steven Barshov (Sive, Paget Riesel) specializes in land use, local government and environmental law. Tom West (The West Firm) represented Anschutz Exploration Co in its suit against the Town of Dryden. He was also co-council representing Cooperstown Holstein Co. in a suit against the Town of Middlefield. Helen Slottje (Comminity Environmental Defense Council) is an attorney in Ithaca who has researched case law and has developing legal strategies for fracking bans. This panel was part of an all-day conference for municipal officials entitled “Municipal Law and Planning: A Local Perspective on Hydrofracking” held September 28, 2012 at the Albany Law School and sponsored by the Government Law Center.
